We have created a database of the U.S. Senators' contact information in an Excel sheet, sorted based on where you live. Also, we have developed a draft of an email body text to make sending supporting emails to your Representatives even easier!
Please contact your Representatives and ask them to visit us in front of the U.S. Capitol at Ulysses S. Grant Memorial.

I am writing to let you know that a group of Iranian democracy and human activists, DC Woman Life Freedom (DC WLF), who live in the DMV area are staging an all day and night sit-in starting on November 1, 2022 at Ulysses S. Grant Memorial to bring attention to the Iranian revolution taking place in Iran which is moving into its seventh week. Among the group are family members killed in the downed PS752 Ukrainian Airliner, student activists who left Iran after the Green Movement, LGBTQ Iranian activists, and well-known Iranian artists who support freedom of expression. There will be musical performances and art installations throughout the day as well as remarks given by participants and guests. Below, you can find their letter to the Congresspeople in which they emphasized on their demands. I hope you will take an opportunity to visit them, and hear their perspectives and demands. At this critical time, it is more important than ever for lawmakers to hear from as many Iranians as possible, including those unaffiliated with specific groups.
Thank you for your consideration,

PLEASE SUPPORT IRANIANS NOT THE ISLAMIC REGIME OF IRAN
Dear Members of Congress,
As Iranian-American activists, we write requesting that Congress takes urgent action to halt the Biden administration from making any deals with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As the most powerful branch of the United States government, we believe that Congress cannot be complicit in denying basic human rights to Iranians in Iran. For the past several weeks, President Biden’s administration has witnessed the widespread events in Iran ignited by the killing of Mahsa Amini under the custody of Khamenei’s “Morality Police.” This turning point brought Iranians to the streets in massive numbers and is picking up an undeniable momentum every day. With motivations rooted beyond this horrendous event, Iranians are at a critical and pivotal point that could only lead to democratic changes in Iran. For this reason, we strongly urge that President Biden’s administration should refrain from making any deals with the Islamic Regime of Iran, a dictatorship that is actively suffocating its own citizens.
As Iranian-American activists, we believe that U.S. national interest, particularly in the Middle East, lays in supporting a democratic Iran where basic human rights are respected – where the rights of ALL women, LGBTI+ and citizens are free and protected by the law and authorities. Citizens of Iran are fighting for their right to live in an equal and inclusive society. Supporting Iranians marching in the streets throughout Iran, protesting and demanding their rights, is critical to the American government’s ambitions of striving for regional and global peace.
Alongside Iran experts, we confirm that this movement in Iran is different as it is entering a revolution marathon. The current Islamic Republic of Iran bypassed fair and democratic elections, and the regime is not a true representative of Iranian citizens. For over a month, Iranians have been demanding to “take back Iran,” calling for regime change and a true democratic representation of their country. The U.S. government should not misinterpret this situation as anything else. Therefore, if President Biden’s administration is perceived as supporting the Islamic Regime in any way through any form of dealmaking, then it will be cooperating with a brutal mafia in killing and suppressing Iranians.
Ultimately, we urge Congress, as the leaders of the United States government, to leverage their power of persuasion and resolve to stop President Biden’s administration from making any kind of deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran until the Iranian citizens are fully empowered and truly represented by a democratically elected government of Iran. For the reasons discussed in this letter, we are peacefully staging an all day and night sit-in at the U.S. Capitol steps for two weeks. We strongly believe that Iranian and American citizens share the same values and advocate for democratically elected governments in a world without violence and discrimination. Let's unite against a dictatorial regime that seeks to remain in power by killing innocent people. Let’s unite against a regime that wields power by imposing war and suffering on other nations globally.
